WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded a $276,953 Coastal Ocean Programs grant to the University of Maine’s Office of Research and Sponsored Projects in Orono.

The funding is being made available through the Commerce Department’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It will be used to support research focused on shellfish toxins. If successful, results might lead to selective breeding of resistant shellfish populations.
