HAMPDEN – As of Monday, Sept. 24, BARCO Federal Credit Union will operate under the new name Maine Savings Federal Credit Union.
The decision to change the credit union’s name was dictated by the growth and change the company has experienced since its inception 40 years ago. The name BARCO was created to represent the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad Co., which was the original select employee group for the institution.
In the last decade, the credit union’s assets have increased from $28 million to more than $125 million, branch locations have increased from three to six throughout Eastern Maine, and the number of select employee groups has increased from the original one to more than three hundred. The name Maine Savings Federal Credit Union was ultimately selected to best reflect the institution’s members and organizations that it serves.
For more information, visit Maine Savings Federal Credit Union on the Web at www.mainesavings.com, or one of their six locations in Hampden, Ellsworth, Milo, Corinth, Bar Harbor and North Vassalboro.
