Schenck trips up Katahdin Lee, Old Town notch victories

SHERMAN STATION – Jessica Day netted what proved to be the game-winning goal as the Schenck Wolverines edged the Katahdin Cougars 3-2 in schoolgirl soccer action Monday.

Davis added a goal with an assist from Jodi King. Sarah Gordon scored on a pass from Kayla Hathaway. Beth Chasse made 14 saves on 24 shots for 3-3 Schenck of East Millinocket.

K.C. Duffy-Stanley scored unassisted for the 4-4-1 Cougars while Morgan Anderson had a goal and Tracy Willigar recorded an assist. Mindy Libby stopped 15 of 22 shots.

Lee 3, Woodland 0

At Woodland, Deidra Ham scored two goals to lead the 9-0 Pandas.

Shelby Pickering scored and had an asssist while Katie Harris made 14 saves on 20 shots.

For the 3-4 Dragons, Beth Covey made 18 saves on 25 shots.

Dexter 3, Central 2

At Corinth, Sarah Turner scored the winning goal unassisted for 3-4 Dexter with 10:01 remaining in the game.

Lindsay Turner scored with an assist from Sarah Turner while Angela Watson added an unassisted goal. Daphne Robichaud made five saves on nine shots.

Nicole Richards scored both goals for 1-8 Central, on with an assist from Julie McDonald. Nicole Daniel faced 23 shots and stopped 12.

Penobscot Valley 2, Penquis 2

At Milo, Lindsay Hamlin scored and had an assist for the Patriots as they tied the Howlers.

April Allen added a goal for 5-2-1 Penquis. Ashley Pelletier and Nicole Nason combined to stop seven of 10 shots.

Megan Cyr and Alicia Drost each scored unassisted for 3-6-1 Penobscot Valley. Kylie McGinn made 13 saves on 37 shots for the Howlers.

Old Town 2, Orono 0

At Old Town, Kendall Tracewski scored both goals with assists from Kasey Spencer to lead the 8-0 Indians to the win. Emelie Richard made four saves on four shots.

For the 0-7 Red Riots, Ana Blagojevic stopped 21 of 25 shots.

Field hockey

Foxcroft 4, John Bapst 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ashley McKusick scored two goals and Harita Reddy had three assists to lead the Ponies.

Molly Tibbetts and Tamlyn Frederick also scored for 5-2-1 Foxcroft, and goalie Megan Ryder made saved the only shot she faced.

Julia Sleeper made 12 saves on 21 shots for the 1-7 Crusaders of Bangor.

JV: Foxcroft 6-0

Dexter 4, Hampden 1

At Hampden, Kristy Veazie scored two goals and Erika Haiko recorded a goal and an assist as the Tigers remained undefeated.

Keriann Patterson picked up the other goal for 8-0 Dexter, and Brittany Veazie added an assist. Cindy Koscielny made four saves on 12 shots.

Whitney Brydon tallied for the 4-4 Broncos, and Jennifer Hessert made 24 saves on 30 shots.

JV: Dexter 5-0

Central 2, Hermon 2 (2OT)

At Hermon, Noelle O’Clair scored both goals for 2-5-1 Hermon, one with an assist from Jessie Deprey.

Jenny Rollins scored unassisted and had an assist for 4-2-2 Central while Katie Ahearn added a goal. Natalie Bell made eight saves on 10 shots for the Hawks while Cindy Dehm stopped three of five for the Red Devils.

Boys soccer

Schenck 5, Katahdin 0

At East Millinocket, Seth Johnston posted three goals to pace the Wolverines.

Brian Graham and Pat Jamo picked up assists on Johnston’s first-half goals that gave Schenck a 2-0 halftime lead. Drew Fayle assisted on the other.

Tyler Thompson scored with an assist from Eric Watson, and Watson tallied unassisted. Mike Rossignol made seven saves on seven shots.

Chris McNally made 12 saves on 33 shots for the Cougars of Sherman Station.

Foxcroft 1, Orono 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Josh Chase’s goal with 22 minutes remaining in the match proved to be the game winner for the Ponies.

Chase’s score came when a cross from Pat Lizotte passed through a cluster of players in front of the goal and Chase beat Orono goalie Mike Merritt to the ball.

Matt Hackett stopped 13 of 15 shots for 5-4 Foxcroft Academy.

Merritt saved eight of 11 shots for 1-7-2 Orono.

Piscataquis 4, Central 1

At Guilford, goals by Jon Prescott, Keith Simpson, Kyle Pulkkinen, and John Garrett-Young propelled the Pirates.

Josh Herrick had two assists, and ‘keeper Brandon Jones made five saves on 10 shots for 5-2-2 Piscataquis.

Joe Allen scored for the 3-3-2 Red Devils on a Seth Strout assist. Adam Allen made 20 saves on 31 shots.

Dexter 1, Searsport 0

At Dexter, Jeremy Kenney’s unassisted goal with 24:46 left in the second half was the game-winner for the Tigers.

Brian Hersey saved all 11 of the Vikings’ shots to help Dexter go to 4-4.

Jacob Manner made 30 saves on 32 shots for 3-5-1 Searsport.

GSA 3, Deer Isle-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle-Stonington, Bela Kovach led 5-5 George Stevens Academy with two unassisted goals.

Hasn Reuter scored an unassisted goal while James Friend made five saves on seven shots.

For 3-5-1 Deer Isle-Stonington, Brady Ballou scored with an assist from Josh Bolton while Chris Gross stopped seven of 13 shots.

Ellsworth 3, Sumner 0

At Ellsworth, Jensen Rich led the 6-1-1 Eagles with a goal and an assist.

Seth Mayo ands Noah Jordan each scored goals while Andy Berry had an assist and Chad Smtih made four saves on seven shots.

Jason Gueste stopped three of 15 shots for 3-3-2 Sumner.

JV: Ellsworth 4-0

Hermon 4, Bucksport 2

At Bucksport, Parker Roberts scored two goals to lead the Hawks past the Golden Bucks. Ben Haggerty had a goal and an assist and Scott Riendeau chipped in with a goal. Matt Watson made eight saves on 12 shots for 5-4-1 Hermon.

Adam Bourgon scored both Bucksport goals and James Booth recorded an assist. Trevor Stevens stopped 18 of 23 shots for 0-8 Bucksport.

JV: Hermon 3-0

Bangor 5, Old Town 1

At Old Town, Alex Chaiken and Josh York each scored a goal and an assist to power the Rams.

Ryan Jeffrey, Jeff Oertel and Alex McManus each added goals while Nate Goodell, Joe Taylor and Kyle Cutshall recorded assists. Payson Nichols made 13 saves on 14 shots.

For the 1-7-1 Indians, Matt Petrie scored with an assist from Nick Aucoin while Tyler Tracewski made 10 saves on 14 shots.

John Bapst 4, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Zach Means scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the John Bapst Crusaders past the Witches.

Wes Day had a goal and an assist for 7-1 Bapst while Bill Chapman scored the other goal. Conrad Brown saved six of 15 shots.

Mike King made eight saves on 18 shots for the 4-4-1 Witches.

Lee 1, Penobscot Valley 0

At Howland, Dustin Pickering knocked in a penalty kick 4:31 into the second half to lift the Pandas.

Adam Ham made 15 saves on 23 shots for Lee, now 6-3-1.

Lance Pelkey stopped 19 of 20 shots for the Howlers, also 6-3-1.

Islesboro 8, Chop Point 0

At Islesboro, Gavin Harkins scored three goals, helping give the 4-1 Eagles the win.

Jonathan Bolduc scored two goals while Rory Diffin had a goal and an assist. Patrick Knight and Tim Zlotkowski each had goals while David Pike notched four assists. Morgan Kerr and Patrick Knight saved 10 of 10 shots.

For 0-6 Chop Point of Woolwich, Matt Johnson made 11 saves on 23 shots.
