LINCOLN – Holly Franck’s goal halfway through the second half lifted the Stearns Minutemen to a 1-0 high school field hockey victory over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx Tuesday.

Becca Saucier made five saves on 10 shots for 4-2-2 Stearns.

Sara McCormick made 10 saves on 18 shots for the 2-5-2 Lynx.

JV: Mattanawcook 3-1

Old Town 2, Orono 0

At Old Town, Kendall Tracewski scored both goals with assists from Kasey Spencer to lead the 8-0 Indians to the win on Monday. Emelie Richard made four saves on four shots.

For the 0-7 Red Riots, Ana Blagojevic stopped 21 of 25 shots.

JV: Orono 2-1

Girls soccer

Houlton Chr. 4, Highview Chr. 0

At Houlton, Sarah Wallace scored two goals and had two assists for 2-3 Houlton Christian.

Meredith Jago had two goals while Sarah Jago and Erin Moakler each had assists. Meghan Jago made eight saves on 11 shots.

For 0-5 Highview Christian, Sherry Cooper faced 29 shots and stopped five.

Greenville 4, Bangor Christian 1

At Bangor, Cindy Lebel scored three goals, leading 9-0 Greenville to the win.

Diane Aucoin scored with an assist from Kristal Sutherland while Jessie Craft made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Heather Niles scored on a pass from Becky Fortier while Kendil Snow faced 13 shots and stopped eight for 2-5-1 Bangor Christian.

Hermon 0, Foxcroft 0 (2OT)

At Dover-Foxcroft, Shannon Wiggin faced 12 shots and stopped eight for 1-6-1 Hermon in the tie.

For 2-5-1 Foxcroft Academy Darcy McCormick and Katie Walsh combined for six saves on seven shots.

Hampden 10, MDI 0

At Hampden, Tyne Franchi and Jani Bosse tallied two goals apiece as the Broncos cruised.

Kim Stephenson, Katie Lindemann, Erin Campbell, Alex Hedspeth, Laura Martin and Hilary Wilson contributed one goal each. Emmy Russell and Gabby Schrage combined for two saves on two shots.

Sarah Johnson stopped 18 of 32 attempts for Mount Desert Island.

JV: Hampden 5-1

Orono 2, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Molly Dupere scored both goals to help the Red Riots knock off undefeated John Bapst.

Michelle Benoit made 12 saves on 13 shots for 4-3-1 Orono.

Julie Crotty tallied an unassisted goal for the 5-1-1 Crusaders. Alex Waring made six saves on 13 shots.

Boys soccer

Greenville 3, Bangor Christian 1

At Greenville, Tyler Muzzy led 7-0-1 Greenville with two goals and an assist.

Derek Boucher scored a goal and an assist. Chris Waldon added a goal while Gregory Aucoin made 16 saves on 20 shots.

Ben Sobey scored unassisted for 4-4-1 Greenville while D.J. McCleary stopped 18 of 25 shots.

Caribou 3, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Joel Griffeth had a goal and two assists to lead the Caribou Vikings to the win over Nokomis.

Tyler Giles and Mike Hofmann each scored a goal for the 7-2-1 Vikings. Nic Chasse saved 12 of 13 shots.

Ryan McLellan scored on a Justin Veazie assist for the 1-7 Warriors. Mike Jacques made 14 saves on 17 shots.

JV: Nokomis 3-0

John Bapst 2, Penquis 1

At Milo, the Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then held off a comeback bid by the Patriots.

Wes Day and Colby Theriault scored goals for John Bapst of Bangor. Zach Means recorded an assist and Bill Chapman stopped 16 of 23 shots as the Crusaders improved to 8-1.

Justin Allen scored a goal for 5-3-1 Penquis Valley and Mike Grindle made 14 saves on 20 shots.

Carrabec 2, Dirigo 2

At North Anson, Jackson Hunt logged an unassisted goal to tie the game for the Cobras. The game was halted with 12:18 remaining due to the weather.

Hunt also assisted on an Ed Yahn score. John Chretien made five saves on seven shots for 5-1-2 Carrabec.

For 7-0-2 the Cougars of Dixfield, Nate Clark registered a goal and an assist. Brian Haynes added a goal and Corey Wing pitched in with an assist. Derrik Gilbert turned away six of the eight shots he faced.
