Lance Cote has joined the Bangor YMCA as the new recreation sports director. He began his college career as a physical education major at the University of Maine in Orono and continued at Husson College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration last spring. Cote is president of the Eastern Maine Ice Hockey Officials Association and has worked as a goal judge for University of Maine Hockey since 1994.

Matt Cook is the new assistant youth and family director at the Bangor YMCA. Cook has been a member of the YMCA since 1981, when he was 4 years old. His employment history at the Y began with lifeguarding and included working with the child care and youth works programs. Eventually he became assistant aquatics director and assistant swim team coach.

Dan Craig, executive director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s eastern regional office, has been appointed director of Region I for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA’s Region I is headquartered in Boston, and oversees operations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Donald Gross has been named administrator of the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland. Gross had worked as the financial officer at Camden Health Care Center, which also is operated by Northeast Health. Gross replaces Robert McKeown, who has taken over as executive director of Quarry Hill, a retirement and long-term health care facility in Camden, also operated by Northeast Health.

Paige Lilly, an archivist with 17 years’ experience in the library field in Maine, has been selected archivist for the William S. Cohen Papers at the University of Maine’s Fogler Library. The Cohen Papers, donated to the university upon Cohen’s retirement from the U.S. Senate in 1997, are held in the special collections department of the library. Lilly has previously worked as archivist and librarian at The Shaker Library in Sabbathday Lake and headed the research library at the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport.
