On Sept. 11, our nation was forever changed. The firefighters of Bangor and other local fire departments wanted to assist with the rescue efforts in Manhattan, although our help was not needed at this time. We felt we had to help in some way, so we started collecting donations at Wal-Mart.

IAFF Local 772 and the Bangor Fire Department would like to thank everyone who made donations to the families of our fallen brother firefighters in New York City. I think I speak for us all when I say that the tremendous outpouring of donations and support was remarkable.

We would also like to say a special thank you to our friends at Wal-Mart for their support as well; this would not have been such a great success if we did not have their assistance.
