Richards’ goals met, ‘Dogs win

JONESPORT – Joe Richards provided all the scoring the Machias Bulldogs needed with two goals as Machias improved to 8-0 with a 2-0 schoolboy soccer win over Jonesport-Beals Wednesday.

Marcus Frutchey made 11 saves on 13 shots for the Bulldogs.

Abraham Beal turned back 19 of 21 for the 1-7-1 Royals.

Narraguagus 8, Woodland 0

At Harrington, Robert Tenney scored two goals and assisted on another to help lead the host Knights to the shutout over Woodland.

Maurice Tenney and Saben Rossi each scored two goals for the 4-6 Knights. Corey Worcester had a goal and two assists while Brandon Beal added a goal. Eric Pelletier and Josh Look combined to make 14 saves on 16 shots.

Aaron Moody made 33 saves on 41 shots for the 0-10-1 Dragons.

Bangor 5, Nokomis 0

At Bangor, Ryan Jeffery led a balanced attack with a goal and two assists as the Rams rolled.

Justin York added two assists for 5-4 Bangor. Alex Chaiken and Eric Lenz had a goal each. Kyle Cutshall notched a goal and two assists. Payson Nichols and Josh Heath combined on the shutout. They only had to face four shots, and saved two of them.

Mike Jacques rejected eight of 18 shots for the 1-8 Warriors of Newport.

JV: Bangor 1-0

Ellsworth 3, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Erik Maleck provided two goals as the Eagles blanked the Hawks.

Seth Mayo pitched in with a goal and an assist for 7-1-1 Ellsworth. Chad Smith turned back all nine shots he faced.

Matt Watson rejected five of eight shots for the 5-5-1 Hawks.

JV: Hermon 5-1

DI-Stonington 6, Central 2

At Deer Isle, Josh Bolton knocked in four goals and added an assist to power the Mariners.

Ruslin Sokolov and Evan Haskell added a goal apiece for 4-5-2 Deer Isle-Stonington. Bennett Gray added an assist. Chris Goss and Gray combined for 15 saves on 17 shots.

Seth Strout scored both goals for the Red Devils of Corinth. Adam Allen made seven saves on 20 shots.

Sumner 2, Searsport 1

At East Sullivan, Carl Joy netted the game-winner off an assist from Alex Brunton with 5:20 left as the Tigers held off the Vikes.

Trevor Renwick provided Sumner’s first goal. Jason Guest and J.J. Phinney made six saves on 16 shots.

For Searsport, Pasco Grove netted the only goal. Matt Mercier rejected 15 of 25 shots.

Hampden 4, Brewer 2

At Hampden, the Hampden Academy Broncos limited Brewer to six total shots as four different players scored a goal.

Peter Macone, Matt Moretti, Jake Reynolds, and Jake Cohen each had a goal for the 5-3-2 Broncos. Kenny Mayo made four saves.

Francesco Tripputi and Will Prescott each scored a goal for the Witches. Mike King saved 17 of 21 shots.

JV: Hampden 5-2

Calais 2, WA Raiders. 2 (2OT)

At Calais, Scott McDonald of Calais scored to tie it up with 12 seconds left, off a pass from Darin Morrell, and they battled to the tie with the Raiders of East Machias.

McDonald added another goal for 6-3-1 Calais. Nate Pelletier stopped 12 of 17 shots.

Matt Gibson and Steve Armelkamsen provided goals for 6-2-1 Washington Academy. Barrett Craven turned back 11 of 14 shots.

Girls soccer

Dexter 6, DI-Stonington 0

At Dexter, Lindsay Turner knocked in five goals, and twin sister Sarah assisted on three as the Tigers sailed.

Amanda Field added a goal and an assist for 4-4 Dexter. Daphne Robichaud stopped seven of eight shots.

Roz Santaspago turned back 26 of 31 shots for the 1-8 Mariners.

Old Town 5, Foxcroft 0

At Old Town, Hannah Marquis knocked home three goals and added an assist as the Indians rolled.

Mallory Brown and Patricia Shirland added a goal each for 6-1-2 Old Town. Kim Pinette added an assist. Whitney Carey and Jessica Paul combined to stop all three Foxcroft shots.

Darcy McCormick turned aside 24 of 29 shots for the 2-6-1 Ponies.

Erskine 2, Belfast 1

At Belfast, Julie Harding’s goal off a Heidi Whitehouse assist with 34 minutes left in the game stood up as the Erskine Academy Eagles of South China edged Belfast.

Whitehouse scored the first goal off a Harding assist. Meghan Lamey made eight saves on 11 shots for the 6-2 Eagles.

Abi Maycock scored on a Lindsey Bryant assist for the 6-2 Lions. Emily Worth saved 10 of 14 shots.

Field Hockey

Piscataquis 3, Foxcroft 2 (OT)

At Guilford, Sandi Haskell notched the game-winner off a pass from Karole-Anne Emery, who added a goal and another assist, 38 seconds into overtime to lift the Pirates to victory.

Tedianne Galuski added a goal for 7-1-1 PCHS. Caterina Riitano made eight saves on 10 shots.

Harita Reddy and Molly Tibbetts provided goals for the 5-3-1 Ponies. Meagan Ryder turned back four of seven shots.

JV: Foxcroft 2-1

Dexter 4, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Erika Haiko scored two goals as the Tigers blanked the Warriors.

Kristy Veazie recorded a goal and chipped in with three assists. Brittany Veazie added a goal for 9-0 Dexter. Cindy Koscielny stopped three of four shots.

Brandi Davis made 17 saves on 28 shots for 4-5 Nokomis.

JV: 1-1

Central 2, Brewer 1

At Corinth, Heather Lyford scored off a pass from Shawna Bell as the Red Devils downed the Witches.

Katie Ahearn added a goal for 5-2-1 Central. Cindy Dehm turned back two of four shots.

Margo Relford provided the goal for the 0-8 Witches off a pass from Caitlin Coutts. Hilary Ohmart made 12 saves on 27 shots.

JV: Central 3-0

Bangor 2, Orono 1

At Bangor, Janel Bonzey and Monica Willey scored a goal each as the Rams improved to 4-4.

Frankee Waldron and Allison Frazier combined to stop six of 14 shots in goal for Bangor.

Emily Reed knocked in a goal for the 0-7-1 Red Riots. Ana Blagojevic turned away nine of 19 shots.

JV: Orono 1-0
