BANGOR – The United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service recently honored five owners-managers of government-financed multi-family housing properties for their excellence in operating the federally funded program for low and very low-income apartment residents.

The awards were presented by Rural Development State Director Michael W. Aube at the agency’s annual multifamily housing seminar on Sept. 18 at the Augusta Civic Center.

The awards were presented to:

. Vicki Espling of RSV Management in Machias for her superior management of three elderly housing apartment complexes in Machias;

. Jean and Clyde Bickford of Lincoln Property Management for their quality management of Sunrise Village in Mattawamkeag and Sunrise Point in Howland.

. Todd Mattson of CB Mattson Apartments in Gardiner for his personal contribution in assisting persons with disabilities and for providing tenant support services, such as Internet access to the elderly residents of RHS financed multifamily housing properties.

. Ronald, Marcella and Kevin Kugell of R & K Oxford Management in Oxford for their outstanding efforts in providing access to quality housing for persons with disabilities, particularly at the Elizabeth Ashley House in Mechanic Falls.

. Suzanne Raymond of Dover-Foxcroft for her excellence in managing the Thayer Parkway Apartment complex in Dover-Foxcroft. Her efforts in coordinating a recent major rehabilitation project at Thayer Parkway was particularly recognized by RHS as a superior example of empowering tenants in the decision making process. She also was instrumental in sponsoring USDA’s Fresh Produce Voucher program for residents at Thayer Parkway Apartments.
