WASHINGTON – Three more Maine schools and one library will share more than $11,000 in funding under the E-Rate program.

This is the latest of several waves of funding that will be announced as part of the fourth year of E-Rate funding for schools and libraries in Maine and nationally during the coming months. Since the program began in 1998, Maine has received almost $12.3 million in funds.

“Maine schools and libraries are improving their telecommunications options, and access to the Internet, with this support,” said U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, who with Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.V., authored the E-Rate program as part of the 1996 Telecommunications Act.

The latest school districts and libraries to receive funding are:

. East Blue Hill Public Library – $198.

. Monmouth School Department – $8,212.

. Palermo Consolidated School – $2,317.

. School Administrative District 5, Rockland – $804.
