MOUNT DESERT – Julie Crotty scored three goals to lead the John Bapst Crusaders to a 6-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Mount Desert Island Trojans Saturday.
Rebecca Stevens scored twice and Meghan Sekera had a goal and an assist for the 7-1-1 Crusaders. Alex Waring made five saves on eight shots.
For the 0-9-1 Trojans, Alisha Boisvert scored on an Emma Pope-Welch assist and Sarah Johnson saved eight of 19 shots.

Presque Isle 2, Nokomis 0
At Newport, Jesse Miller scored a goal on a Sarah Belden assist and Autumn Tuttle scored unassisted to lead the Presque Isle Wildcats to the win over the Nokomis Warriors.
Jessica Price saved nine of 16 shots for the 8-2-1 Wildcats.
Sara Lowe made eight saves on 11 shots for 4-5 Nokomis.

Caribou 2, Brewer 0
At Brewer, Jenna Vincent and Amelia Cote tallied a goal each as the Vikings blanked the Witches.
Katie Thibodeau and Lindsay Burlock contributed assists for 2-9 Caribou. Leah Drew recorded 10 saves on 14 shots.
For 2-8 Brewer, Stephanie Dickey totaled 12 saves on 14 shots.

Dexter 2, Penobscot Valley 1
At Guilford, Emily Whalen’s two goals were the difference as Dexter downed Penobscot Valley.
Whalen’s winning score came unassisted with 12:11 remaining in the contest. Her first goal was assisted by Lindsay Turner. Goalie Daphne Robichaud registered five saves on 13 shots as the Tigers improved to 6-4-0.
For the 3-8-1 Howlers, Meagan Cyr logged an unassisted goal. Kylie McGinn stopped seven of 10 shots.
Central 0, DI-S Mariners (2OT)
At Corinth, Deer Isle-Stonington and Central battled to a scoreless tie as Mariner goalie Roz Santospago and Red Devil goalie Nicole Daniel stopped every shot they faced.
Santospago stymied 28 attempts and Daniel turned away 19.
Hampden 12, Brewer 0
At Brewer on Friday, Tyne Franchi booted home four goals and an assist and the defense held Brewer without a shot as Hampden remained perfect at 10-0.
Kim Stephenson contributed two goals and three assists, Erin Campbell recorded two goals and an assist, and Laura Martin added a goal and three assists. Alex Hudspeth, Katie Lawler and Emily O’Connell rounded out the charge with a goal each. Emmy Russell and Gabby Schrage shared time in goal.
For the 2-7 Witches, Stephanie Dickey made 12 saves on 44 shots.
Old Town 1, Orono 1 (2OT)
At Old Town, Michelle Benoit of Orono converted a Maria Millard pass at the 20-minute mark of the second half to tie the game and end the scoring.
Joel Clingerman and Marie Lint combined to stop 23 of 25 shots for 5-3-3 Orono.
For 6-1-3 Old Town, Meghan King socked an unassisted score 1:38 into the game. Whitney Carey stopped 17 of 19 shots.

Foxcroft 2, Hermon 1
At Dover-Foxcroft, Molly Tibbetts fired home an Emily Austin feed with 19:35 to go in the second half as Foxcroft Academy slipped by Hermon.
Tamlyn Frederick added an unassisted score for the 6-3-2 Ponies. Megan Ryder registered six saves on nine shots.
For 2-7-0 Hermon, Erin Lucey scored on a Noelle O’Clair pass. Natalie Bell turned away nine of 13 shots.

Piscataquis 2, Central 1 (OT)
At Corinth, Karole-Anne Emery converted a corner two minutes into the first overtime as Piscataquis of Guilford nipped Central.
Emery garnered the Pirates’ first goal on a penalty stroke. Caterina Riitano blocked 11 of 16 Central attempts.
Jenny Rollins scored for the Red Devils on a Heather Lyford assist. Cindy Dehm registered two saves on six shots.
Hampden 3, Nokomis 2
At Hampden, Christie Mosley’s shot off a close-up assist from Sarah Peters from the right side to the left corner of the net went in to provide the winning margin for the Hampden Academy Broncos.
For the 6-4 Broncos, Katherine Lumino and Peters each scored a goal. Jennifer Hessert saved 33 of 35 shots.
Gill Snow and Ashley Kennedy each had unassisted goals for the 4-6 Warriors of Newport. Robin Davis had 12 saves on 23 shots.

Old Town 5, Brewer 0
At Brewer, Sarah Metivier and Shannon Crean poked in a pair of goals apiece as Old Town ran its mark to 10-0.
Kendall Tracewski added a goal and an assist and Mary Wollstadt contributed an assist for the Indians. Emelie Richard turned away the only shot she faced.
For 0-10 Brewer, Hilary Ohmart notched seven saves on 15 shots.
Boys soccer
Dexter 0, PVHS 0 (2OT)
At Howland, goalies Brian Hersey of Dexter and Lance Pelkey of Penobscot Valley anchored stubborn defenses in a game that remained scoreless after a pair of overtimes.
Hersey recorded 16 saves on 32 shots for 4-4-1 Dexter. For the 6-3-2 Howlers, Pelkey stopped all 13 shots he faced.
Penquis 3, Schenck 3 (2OT)
At Milo, Justin Allen of Penquis socked his second goal with 17:42 remaining in the second half to tie the game and end the scoring.
Allen’s second goal was unassisted and his first was set up by Steve Kissell. Kissell recorded the other Patriot goal on a pass from Garrett Durant. Mike Grindle logged 14 saves on 21 shots for 5-3-2 Penquis.
For 2-7-1 Schenck of East Millinocket, Tyler Thompson registered a hat trick. Seth Johnston added an assist and Mike Rossignol stopped 17 of the 23 shots he faced.
Football
Winslow 41, MDI 14
At Poulin Field in Winslow, the visiting Mount Desert Island Trojans were able to clamp down on Winslow’s passing game, but the Black Raiders ground attack was almost unstoppable.
Fullback Derek Runnels totaled 120 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries while tailback Ricky Vigue had 112 and two on 18 carries to lead the unbeaten Raiders. Quarterback Chris Langlais was limited to 2-for-9 passing for 50 yards.
The Trojans were led by junior back David Zabala, who scored a touchdown and gained 135 yards on 18 carries. Defensive end Andy Wade led the defense with 21/2 sacks and six tackles. Greg Fellis had 12 tackles for the Trojans.

At Bangor Saturday night, sophomore tailback Chris Woodman gained 126 yards on 17 rushes to help lead the visiting Golden Bucks to victory over John Bapst at Cameron Stadium.
Junior fullback-linebacker Marcus Boober scored one touchdown on a 40-yard fumble return and another on a four-yard run for the 4-1 Bucks.
Colin Glass led the winless Crusaders with nine tackles while Alex Rand had five tackles, one interception, and 57 yards on 14 runs. Josh Keefe had 63 yards on 9-for-15 passing.

At Dexter, sophomore quarterback Derek DiFrederico rushed for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion to lead the Stearns Minutemen of Millinocket to their second win of the season.
DiFrederico gained 87 yards on five carries and completed three of six passes for another 66. He also led the defense with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception, a blocked point-after kick, and 12 total tackles. Senior back Ryan Sweeney had 138 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.
For the Tigers, Adam Russell had a touchdown and rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries. Kevin Armstrong led the defense with 14 tackles and an interception.
