My family is sad tonight upon hearing the passing of Shawn Walsh. We had met coach Walsh on several occasions at youth hockey camps and we were always impressed with his energy, his enthusiasm and his knowledge.

We met coach Walsh again last summer, July 2000, by coincidence at Boston University Medical Center. My son had been involved in a traumatic and tragic automobile accident, was in critical condition and had just arrived at the BU Medical Center by emergency plane. It happened to be coach Walsh’s last night at the hospital but little did we know how serious his condition was and would become. Coach showed us the caring man he was on that day when he walked into my son’s room to speak with him and wish him the best of luck. We will always have a fond memory of coach Walsh, who truly touched many lives in positive and inspirational ways. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
