Man faces explosives, drug charges

ELLSWORTH – A Hancock County grand jury Tuesday indicted a Bass Harbor man on drug and explosives charges.

The grand jury charged David C. Faulkingham, 33, with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and criminal use of explosives.

The charges against Faulkingham stem from an August 2000 incident in Tremont in which Maine drug agents stopped Faulkingham’s car and found heroin and oversized firecrackers inside, according to Hancock County District Attorney Michael Povich. The firecrackers were large enough to be considered explosives and were illegal, Povich said.

Faulkingham initially was indicted as a habitual offender while authorities considered pursuing federal charges against him. Due to procedural issues, Povich said, a last-minute decision was made to indict him on state charges.

Also indicted Tuesday were:

Charles J. Richardson, 42, of Bass Harbor, on two separate charges of being a habitual offender.

Audrey J. Doak, 40, of Waldo, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Charles G. Brown, 34, of Lamoine, on a charge of being a habitual offender.

April M. Brasted, 28, of Surry, on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Peter L. Nadeau, 23, of Ellsworth, on three charges of violation of bail conditions.

Shawn A. Ashworth, 26, of Stockton Springs, on a charge of theft.

Alex L. Harris, 27, of Franklin, on charges of burglary of a motor vehicle, theft and forgery.

Jennifer R. Robidoux, 21, of Ellsworth, on charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Jamie L. Brown, 21, of Ellsworth, two indictments charging unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
