FORT KENT – Gabrielle Cyr’s scored the game-winning goal to boost the Fort Kent girls soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Class B rival Houlton Friday in high school action.
Cyr also assisted on a Sara Cyr goal for 6-6-1 Fort Kent. Becka Soucy scored off a Meagan Plourde setup. Heather Hartman and Mindy Morneault combined for three saves on seven shots.
Sarah Beasley scored both goals for 7-4-2 Houlton, with Tamara Goodrich providing an assist. Anna Lenentine made seven saves on 17 shots.
Southern Aroostook 3, Hodgdon 2
At Hodgdon, Mindy Watson scored all three goals, including the game-winner, off assists from Ashley Porter as the Warriors earned their first win.
Watson and Porter combined for all three goals in the second half. The winner was scored with about 9:30 left. Crystal Cameron made seven saves on 11 shots for 1-12 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.
Megan Beals and Shanna McGary each scored a goal and Amanda Fitzpatrick chipped in with an assist. Lindsay Stewart made 13 saves on 19 shots for the 3-7-2 Hawks.
Sumner 3, Washington Acad. 0
At East Sullivan, Meghan Ruhlin booted a pair of goals as Sumner shut out Washington Academy of East Machias.
Danie Crowley added a score on a direct kick and Jordan Reed contributed an assist. Hillary Page stopped the only shot she faced for the 5-6-1 Tigers.
For the 0-9 Raiders, Emily Mawhinney registered six saves on 37 shots.
Narraguagus 5, DI-Stonington 2
At Deer Isle, Missy Barbee’s hat trick proved to be the difference as the Knights improved to 8-2.
Amanda Kennedy and Shelby Howe also scored for the Knights. Liz Thompson added an assist. Thompson and Sarah Snider combined to make 11 saves on 19 shots for 8-2 Narraguagus.
Meghan Wiberg and Roz Santospago scored for the Mariners. Alice Anderson blocked 15 of 20 shots for 1-9-1 Deer Isle-Stonington.
Calais 3, Shead 1
At Eastport, Lanna Martin, Crystal Martin, and Katie Frost each scored for the Blue Devils as they secured their eighth win of the season.
Danielle Feck and Lindsay Taylor each had an assist for 8-2-1 Calais. Katie Welch had 12 saves on 14 shots.
Valerie Brown scored on a Skylar Richardson assist for the Tigers. Roliza DeWitt stopped 15 of 20 shots for 4-8 Shead.
Boys soccer
Machias 1, Sumner 0 (2OT)
At Machias, Erik Smith fielded a deflected ball 30 yards from the goal and fired it in with 59 seconds remaining in the second overtime as Machias slipped by Sumner of East Sullivan.
Marcus Frutchey stopped all four shots he faced for the 12-0-1 Bulldogs.
For the 4-7-2 Tigers, J.J. Phinney recorded four saves on nine shots.
Fort Fairfield 3, Limestone 1
At Fort Fairfield, Eric Tornquist booted two unassisted goals as the Tigers downed the Eagles.
Mickey Browning added a goal and Ryan Babin made 15 saves on 19 shots.
For Limestone, Randy Morrison scored an unassisted goal and Dominik Lobkowitz turned back 20 of 28 shots.
Southern Aroostook 1, Hodgdon 0
At Hodgdon, Corey Edkins pounced on a loose ball and deposited it into the empty net 1:32 into the second half to lift Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.
Zac Philibert made eight saves on 26 shots for the 5-8-1 Warriors and benefited when a Hawk penalty kick sailed over the crossbar.
Zach Good made five saves on 24 shots for the 3-8-1 Hawks.
Schenck 4, Katahdin 0
At Sherman Station, Tyler Thompson chalked up a goal and an assist as Schenck of East Millinocket downed the Cougars.
Drew Fayle, Chad McLaughlin, and Seth Johnston contributed goals and Will Hamlin chipped in with an assist for the Wolverines. Mike Rossignol registered 12 saves on 17 shots.
Katahdin’s Chris McNally logged 13 saves on 28 shots.
Piscataquis 3, Penobscot Valley 0
At Guilford, Harper Hoffman scored twice on passes from Jon Prescott as Piscataquis cruised by Penobscot Valley of Howland.
Kyle Pulkkinen converted a direct kick while goalies John Luellen and Brandon Jones combined for 14 saves on 17 shots.
For the Howlers, Lance Pelkey turned away 14 of 25 attempts.
Old Town 2, MDI 1 (OT)
At Mount Desert Island, Jeremy Gifford’s goal two minutes into overtime gave the Indians the victory.
Brent Magers gave the Indians a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the first half. Kyle Jones tied the game for the Trojans with his goal off a Brad Dalton assist with 11 minutes remaining in regulation.
Tyler Tracewski had eight saves on 17 shots for 3-8-1 Old Town. Adam Thurston stopped eight of 14 shots for 7-4-2 MDI.
