Brewer Witches knock off Bapst Stacie Bean scores twice in shutout

BREWER – Stacie Bean scored two goals Saturday as Brewer knocked previously unbeaten John Bapst of Bangor.

Sarah DeFilipp added a goal for 3-10 Brewer. Rachel Wing, Jade Freeman and Carolyn McAvoy each added an assist. Stephanie Dickey made 12 saves on 13 shots.

Meghan Sekera put in a goal for 11-1-1 John Bapst of Bangor. Alex Waring made 11 saves on 14 shots.

Hermon 1, Nokomis 1 (2OT)

At Hermon, Nokomis of Newport’s Lindsey Welch converted a pass from Kristina Gonzalez at the 31:37 mark of the second half to tie the game and end the scoring.

Sara Lowe turned back 11 of 14 shots for the 6-6-1 Warriors.

For 1-10-2 Hermon, Chantelle Haggerty recorded a first-half goal on an assist from Jodi Reynolds. Shannon Wiggin notched six saves on 15 shots.

Hampden 4, Presque Isle 1

At Presque Isle, Tyne Franchi scored two goals to help the Broncos post their 32nd consecutive regular-season victory.

Katie Lindemann and Kim Stephenson scored one goal each for 13-0 Hampden, while Jani Bosse provided an assist. Emily Russell made nine saves on 10 shots.

Autumn Tuttle converted a penalty kick for 8-3-2 Presque Isle. Jessica Price made 24 saves on 28 shots.

MDI 0, Old Town 0 (2OT)

At Mount Desert Island, the Trojans and the Indians remained scoreless in a match marked by tough defense strong goalkeeping.

For 7-1-5 Old Town, Whitney Carey made seven saves on nine shots. Sarah Johnson stopped 17 of 22 shots for the 1-10-2 Trojans.

BC Patriots 2, Penobscot Valley 0

At Bangor, Heather Niles and Monique Veilleux booted a goal each as the Patriots shut out Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Kendil Snow recorded seven saves on 10 shots for Bangor Christian. Kylie McGinn totaled 10 saves on 17 shots for the Howlers.

Ellsworth 5, Sumner 0

At Ellsworth, Mallory Patten and Jodie Merchant each scored a pair of goals as Ellsworth blanked Sumner of East Sullivan.

Monica Gardner added a goal and Victoria Jones made five saves on six shots for the Eagles.

Sumner’s Hillary Page turned back 12 of 32 shots.

Bucksport 0, GSA 0 (2OT)

At Blue Hill, the Bucks and the Eagles ended in a scoreless tie.

For 11-0-2 Bucksport, Jana Richards stopped 10 of 18 shots. Sarah Kilch notched nine saves on 14 shots for 8-4-2 George Stevens Academy.

Shead 7, Highview Christian 2

At Eastport, Valerie Bowen led the way for the Tigerettes with three goals and an assist.

Skylar Richardson provided two goals and an assist for 5-8 Shead. Celia Cummings added a goal and two assists and Samantha Davis had a goal and an assist. Roliza DeWitt and Mary Ingersoll combined for three saves on five shots.

Linda Perina scored both goals and Alyssa Scott had both assists for 0-8-0 Highview Christian of Charleston. Sherry Cooper registered 17 saves on 28 shots.

Boys soccer

George Stevens 2, Ellsworth 1

At Ellsworth, Mark Clapp scored off a Hans Rueter assist with 1:15 left in the game as George Stevens of Blue Hill triumphed.

Todd Weeks had the other score for the 8-5-0 Eagles. James Friend registered seven saves on 20 shots.

For 9-3-1 Ellsworth, Erik Maleck scored an unassisted goal. Chad Smith and Jay Duhaime combined for five saves on 12 shots.

Hermon 2, Nokomis 0

At Hermon, Matt Watson made eight saves en route to his fifth shutout the year and Hermon triumphed over Nokomis of Newport.

Parker Roberts and Adam Gould netted unassisted goals for the 7-5-1 Hawks.

For the 1-11-1 Warriors, Mike Jacques made nine saves on 11 shots.

Hampden 2, Presque Isle 2 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, Jake Cohen of Hampden scored an unassisted goal with 21:22 left in the second half to tie the game.

Eric Libbey also scored for the 7-3-3 Broncos. Ken Mayo made eight saves on 13 shots.

For the 7-2-4 Wildcats, Nick Casavant scored two unassisted goals. Shane Clark had 15 saves on 19 shots.

Fort Kent 6, Old Town 3

At Old Town, James Raymond scored three goals to lift Fort Kent over Old Town.

Ethan Raymond, Ben Bouchard and Anthony Lamar chipped in with a goal and an assist each for the 11-2-1 Warriors. Nick Thibodeau made 11 saves on 14 shots.

For the 3-9-1 Indians, Mike Stoup, Kevin Emerson and John Garrity registered goals and Matt Petrie notched two assists. Tyler Tracewski made nine saves on 15 shots.

Bangor 0, Caribou 0 (2OT)

At Caribou, the Rams and the Vikings concluded their match in a scoreless deadlock.

Payson Nichols recorded 16 saves on 22 shots for 9-4-1 Bangor. His Caribou counterpart, Nick Chasse, had 10 saves on 16 shots for the 9-3-1 Vikings.

DI-Stonington 4, J-B Royals 1

At Jonesport, Josh Bolton racked up three goals as Deer-Isle Stonington beat Jonesport-Beals.

Brady Ballou added a goal while Jon Gielarowski, Evan Haskell and Doug Hanson had an assist apiece for the 7-4-1 Mariners. Bennett Gray made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Matt Bryant scored the goal for the 2-10-1 Royals. Abraham Beal turned away 16 of 20 shots.

Dexter 2, Penobscot Valley 0

At Dexter, Jeremy Kenney scored both goals as Dexter beat Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Mitch Sawyer provided an assist and Brian Hersey made nine saves on 20 shots for the 6-6-1 Tigers.

For the 7-5-2 Howlers, Lance Pelkey made eight saves on 19 shots.

Foxcroft 1, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Manuel Blanc stroked a free kick from 18 yards away with 14:50 left in the second half as Foxcroft edged John Bapst.

Matt Hackett made 25 saves on 25 shots for the 9-4-1 Ponies.

For 11-2-0 John Bapst, Bill Chapman tallied seven saves on eight shots.

Dexter 26, John Bapst 8

At Dexter, Adam Russell rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries as Dexter rolled over John Bapst of Bangor.

Kevin Armstrong added 173 yards on 16 carries for the 3-3 Tigers. Armstrong and Josh Bishop recorded eight tackles each and Russell made an interception.

Joe Baillargeon scored on a 25-yard fumble return for the Crusaders.

Caterina Riitano made two saves on two shots for 10-2-1 Piscataquis.

Sara McCormick made 13 saves on 14 shots for 2-9-2 Mattanawcook of Lincoln.

Dexter 9, Orono 0

At Dexter, Kristy Veazie piled in six goals and three assists as Dexter remained unbeaten at 13-0-0.

Erika Haiko contributed two goals and three assists, Melissa Doody scored a goal and Brittany Veazie dished out two assists. Cindy Koscielny turned away both shots she faced.

For the 1-11-1 Red Riots, Ana Blagojevic made 26 saves on 28 shots.
