CASTINE – Chris Lapointe threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third as Westfield State beat Maine Maritime 34-0 on Saturday.

Westfield (5-0) turned three Maine Maritime turnovers into 21 points and held Maine Maritime (0-5) to 101 yards of offense.

Maine Maritime held Westfield’s leading rusher, Shawn Lyman, to 77 yards. Don Thibodeau ran for 60 yards to pace the Mariners.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – George Thompson caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Brennan Carney with 0:39 left in Saturday’s game as Wesleyan University defeated Colby College 27-23.

Thompson ended the day with six receptions for 103 yards.

Wesleyan (2-1) trailed 23-20 with two minutes to go as Carney completed four passes for 70 yards.

Colby (1-2) racked up 361 yards on the afternoon.

Colby had taken a 23-20 lead with 4:05 to go, driving 70 yards on 10 plays, capped by a one-yard quarterback sneak by junior Pat Conley.

Pat Conley rushed eight times for 35 yards, ending the day with 15 completions in 36 attempts for 196 yards. Danny Noyes had 10 catches for 155 yards.
