CAMBRIDGE – A 21-year-old Dexter woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash in Cambridge.

Amanda Cyr, the sole occupant of her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Gottardi said the accident occurred at about 4 p.m. at the intersection of the Ham Hill Road and the Goose Flats Road in Cambridge.

He said reconstruction was not complete but early indications were that Cyr was traveling toward Cambridge when another vehicle exited Goose Flats Road. “The two vehicles made contact,” he said, but he would not speculate as to which car was at fault.

Gottardi said both vehicles were heavily damaged and two people in the second car, an older-model Oldsmobile, were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield with minor injuries. Gottardi did not have the names of that pair.

He said those at the accident scene included Deputies Michael Knight and Matthew Cunningham, and Sgt. Pierre Boucher.

Gottardi said both vehicles have been impounded pending completion of the investigation.
