ORONO – Alfond Arena, the site of some of the most memorable moments of Shawn Walsh’s coaching career, will be the venue for a celebration of his life on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Fans are invited to join UMaine President Peter Hoff, Athletic Director Suzanne Tyler and others to share in memories of the Black Bear hockey coach, who died at the age of 46 of kidney cancer on Sept. 24.
The program will feature several speakers, a chorus, the UMaine Pep Band that Walsh considered to be an integral part of the Alfond Arena game atmosphere, a video and several other presentations.
Dan Hannigan of WZON radio in Bangor, the radio voice of the Black Bear hockey team, will serve as master of ceremonies.
