ORONO – International salmon restoration experts from Scotland, Ireland, Canada and the Pacific coast will hold a day-long workshop at Wells Commons on the University of Maine campus from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15. The visitors will share their expertise with Maine resource managers, watershed councils, environmental groups and cities. Salmon populations have crashed around the world, and outside Maine, restoration experts have been protecting their habitats for decades. The workshop will focus on how to protect and restore the salmon habitat. Registration is $25, $10 for students, plus $5 for lunch. For information call Mike Herz at 586-5443.
