Prior to President Bush’s inauguration, the United States had not used an effective response to earlier acts of terrorism against us. This submission to these terrorist acts during the Clinton administration led to the murderous assault on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Now is not the time to be wimpy and turn the other cheek. President Bush will not do this. We must use our power and military. We must endeavor to stop the goal of the terrorists, which is the ultimate destruction of our country.

We are not bullies or heartless people. Whenever there is need to the world, we are the first to help. This country is the largest supplier of food and aid to Afghanistan. We stand for peace, justice and freedom. Maybe that is why Osama bin Laden wishes to destroy America.

We must honor the memory of the Sept. 11 innocents by standing by our principles, our country and President Bush. The American spirit is alive and well. We will remain the United States forever.
