BANGOR – The city’s plan to redevelop its waterfront won the award for outstanding plan of the year from the Northern New England chapter of the American Planning Association.

The $184 million project looks to redevelop about 36 acres of the once-industrial waterfront, plans for which include a high-end hotel, amphitheater, retail center and park connected to the downtown.

The award was presented to the City Council late last week by Kathy Fuller, assistant director, Maine Department of Transportation.
