FORT FAIRFIELD – Mickey Browning scored off a pass from Ryan Helstrom, who had two assists total, as the Fort Fairfield Tigers squeaked by Lee Academy 2-1 in a quadruple overtime Northeastern division Class D semifinal soccer game Wednesday afternoon.
Ryan Dorsey added a goal for 12-2-2 Fort Fairfield. Ryan Babin made 11 saves on 20 shots.
Dustin Pickering provided the goal for 9-5-2 Lee Academy. Adam Ham stopped six of 13 shots.
Bangor Christian 3, Greenville 2
At Greenville, the Patriots took a 3-1 halftime lead behind two Matt Conley goals and held off the Lakers for the win.
Conley scored his first goal unassisted and the second off a penalty kick for the 11-4-1 Patriots. Chase Ossinger added a goal off a Klinton Xhemali pass and goalie D.J. McLeary made 19 saves on 28 shots.
Tyler Muzzy scored the first goal for 12-2-2 Greenville and set the school points record. He surpassed Gene Murray, who set his record in 1979. Muzzy had a total of 118 points (49 goals, 20 assists). His goal was assisted by Derek Boucher, who also assisted Jonathan Ethier’s goal, both coming off throw-ins. Gregory Aucoin made 10 saves on 13 shots.
Class C
Penquis 4, PVHS 1
At Milo, Paul Kusnierz scored two goals, one off a corner kick, to lead the No. 2 Penquis Patriots past Penobscot Valley of Howland in divisional semifinal playoff action.
Brothers Justin Allen and Jordan Allen each scored a goal while Ben Knapp added two assists for the 9-4-2 Pats. Mike Grindle made eight saves on 12 shots.
For the 8-6-2 Howlers, Dustin Nicholson scored an unassisted goal and Lance Pelkey made 14 saves on 21 shots.
Field Hockey
Class A
Nokomis 4, Brewer 0
At Newport, Gill Snow had two assists and four different players scored goals as the Warriors blanked the Witches.
Megan Randlett, Ashley MacKenzie, Angela DeRaps and Mandi Foss provided goals for 8-7 Nokomis. Brandi Davis only had to face two shots, and she stopped both of them.
Joni Norjean rejected 14 of 18 shots for 1-14 Brewer.
Lawrence 3, Bangor 2
At Bangor, three unassisted goals by Breanna Bardwell, Tiffany Blakeny, and Ashley Poulin stood up despite a second-half comeback by Bangor and Lawrence of Fairfield moves on to face top-ranked Skowhegan.
For the 5-10 Bulldogs, Jen Lane made seven saves on 12 shots.
For the 7-8 Rams, Jane Bonzey and Monica Willey each scored unassisted. Goalie Frankie Waldron and Alison Frazier combined to make 11 saves on 18 shots.
Class B
Belfast 4, Lincoln Academy 0
At Belfast, Kate Ross scored a goal in each half and added an assist to pace the Lions to a Class B quarterfinal victory.
Morgan Crandall provided a goal and two assists for 15-0 Belfast, while Ann Berry scored on a Sarah Skinner assist. Tash Scott and Amanda Littlefield combined on the shutout, but did not face a shot.
Megan Gray made 19 saves on 23 shots for 0-14-1 Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.
Class C
Stearns 3, Orono 2
At Millinocket, Candice Achorn’s unassisted goal eight minutes and six seconds into the second half was the difference in the game as her Stearns Minutemen edged Orono in a divisional quarterfinal playoff game Wednesday.
Leslie Osborne scored off sister Jessica Osborne’s assist and Katie Nason scored the other goal for the Minutemen. Becca Saucier saved five of eight shots.
Madi Lamb and Astrid Frank each scored goals for the 1-13-1 Red Riots. Ana Blagojevic saved 20 of 23 shots.
Girls Soccer
Class B
Winslow 3, Mount View 0
At Winslow, Brittany MacLean scored off a pass from Jen Deane as the top-seeded Black Raiders blanked the visiting Mustangs of Thorndike.
Amanda Roy was credited with a goal that a Mount View (8-6-2) defender knocked into the net off a corner kick for 15-1 Winslow. Brittany Morin added an unassisted goal and Bethany Roderigue stopped seven of nine shots.
Danielle Mayer rejected 12 of 28 shots for the Mustangs.
