AUGUSTA – The State Planning Office reported this week that the statewide average price for a gallon of home-heating fuel was down from last week.

As of Monday, the statewide average for home-heating oil was $1.19 a gallon. That is a 1-cent drop from last week and 33 cents lower than one year ago.

The highest prices could be found in central Maine, where some customers were paying as much as $1.30 a gallon. The lowest prices of 95 cents a gallon were found in southwestern parts of the state.

Kerosene was down 1 cent from last week to $1.47 a gallon, while propane dropped to $1.46, a 2-cent decline.
