SOUTH PORTLAND – Fourteen more members of Maine’s National Guard have been called to active duty for America’s war on terrorism.

According to the Maine National Guard, the members are part of the Air National Guard’s 243rd Engineering Installation Squadron in South Portland, and will be sent to locations to provide engineering design support for communications systems planning. The locations were not disclosed.

Those called up completed processing at the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor on Thursday afternoon. They have been ordered to remain on active duty for up to one year if necessary.

The squadron members are trained in designing and installing communications infrastructure such as phones, switchboards, computers, networks, and aircraft landing and navigation equipment.
