FORT FAIRFIELD – Kliton Xhemali weaved his way through the Fort Fairfield defense and fired in a goal with 6:37 left in the second overtime to give No. 4 Bangor Christian a 2-1 win over No. 6 Fort Fairfield in a boys soccer regional Class D crossover semifinal Saturday.

Chase Ossinger converted a Matt Conley pass for the Patriots’ first goal. D.J. McCleary made 13 saves on 17 shots as Bangor Christian improved to 12-4-1.

Mickey Browning tallied an unassisted score for 12-3-2 Fort Fairfield. Ryan Babin notched 16 saves on 28 shots.

Van Buren 3, DI-Stonington 0

At Van Buren, Tyler Hews, Jesse Parent and Mahabolc Masemola booted goals as top-ranked Van Buren blanked No. 6 Deer Isle-Stonington in a regional crossover semifinal.

Tyler Lapierre assisted Parent’s score and Sean Violette logged three saves on six shots for the 14-3-0 Crusaders.

For the 8-5-2 Mariners, Gray Bennett stopped 13 of 21 shots.

Class A

Mount Ararat 4, Bangor 1

At Topsham, four different players scored goals as the top-seeded Mount Ararat Eagles remained unbeaten with a win over No.3 Bangor in a Class A regional crossover semifinal.

Ian London, Mark Rogers, Chris Lyons, and Aaron Fickett each scored a goal for the 16-0-1 Eagles.

For the 11-5-1 Rams, Alex Chaiken scored the lone goal off an assist from Jeff Oertel 21 minutes into the second half to tie the game. Payson Nichols came up with 14 saves on 22 shots. Bangor got off three shots on goal.

Class B

Caribou 1, Camden Hills 0 (4OT)

At the Point Lookout field in Northport, Ben Wakana’s goal with 3:39 left in the fourth overtime period lifted the No. 2 Vikings past the No. 1 Windjammers in a regional crossover semifinal.

Tyler Giles set up the play when he saved a ball from going out of bounds and then served the ball to Wakana, who was about 12 yards out when he took the winning shot with his left foot. Nick Chasse made nine saves on 17 shots for 12-3-2 Caribou.

Will Dennen stopped five of 17 shots for 12-2-3 Camden Hills.

Class C

George Stevens 1, Penquis 0

At Blue Hill, Jed Garvey’s score with 9:42 to go in the first half was the difference as No. 1 George Stevens topped No. 2 Penquis of Milo in a regional crossover semifinal.

Garvey kicked in a pass that had been headed his way by Baren Yurchick. James Friend logged three saves on five shots for the 12-5-0 Eagles.

For the 9-5-2 Patriots, Mike Grindle tallied seven saves on 12 shots.

Class B

Bucksport 4, Old Town 2

At Old Town, Elissa Gordon had a hat trick and only one of her goals as assisted as she led the No. 2 Golden Bucks to a 4-2 regional crossover semifinal victory over No. 1 Old Town.

Nichole Pacheco scored off an assist from Jessie Taylor and Gordon. Jill Richards assisted on one of Gordon’s goals for the 14-1-2 Bucks. Jana Richards made six saves on 10 shots.

For the 9-2-6 Indians, Meghan King scored both goals, one off an assist from Jen Higgins. Whitney Carey turned aside three of 18 shots.

Winslow 1, Fort Kent 0

At Winslow, Brittany Maclean kicked in a cross from Amanda Byrne to propel No. 1 Winslow over No. 2 Fort Kent in a regional crossover semifinal.

Bethany Roderigue stopped nine of 14 shots for the 16-1-0 Raiders. Mindy Morneault blocked 12 of 24 shots for the 8-7-1 Warriors.

Class C

George Stevens 1, Madawaska 0

At Madawaska, Carrie Driscoll corralled a rebound off a Madawaska defender and fired it in at the 16-minute mark of the first half as No. 4 George Stevens of Blue Hill upended the top-ranked Owls in a regional crossover semifinal.

Sarah Kilch stopped eight of 18 shots for the 11-4-2 Eagles.

For 13-2-1 Madawaska, Meghan Marshall turned away seven of 16 shots.

Class D

Van Buren 1, Greenville 0

At Greenville, Nicole Corbin’s unassisted goal at the 18:58 mark of the first half boosted No. 2 Van Buren over No. 1 Greenville in a regional crossover semifinal.

Danielle Gagnon stopped nine of 10 shots for the 13-4-0 Crusaders. For 14-2-0 Greenville, Jessie Craft made five saves on eight shots.

Class A

Skowhegan 4, Lawrence 2

At Skowhegan, Katie LePage had two goals and one assist to lead the host Indians past Lawrence of Fairfield in a Northeast semifinal.

Ramie Merrill had a goal and two assists for the 13-2 Indians, seeded first. Bri Searles scored the other goal. Meghan Gove made three saves on five shots.

Ashley Poulin and Laura Tingley scored the goals for the fifth-seeded Bulldogs, now 5-11. Jen Lane saved 10 of 14 shots.

Class B

Belfast 3, Maranacook 0

At Belfast, Jen Jackson scored two of Belfast’s three goals to lead the unbeaten Lions past fourth seed Maranacook of Readfield Saturday in a regional semifinal.

Morgan Crandall scored the other goal for the top-seeded Lions, now 16-0, and Ann Berry assisted on two goals. Tasha Scott saved all six shots she faced.

Morgan Verrill made 11 saves on 14 shots for the 9-7 Black Bears.

Football

Dexter 20, MCI 12

At Dexter, Kevin Armstrong chalked up 144 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and Adam Russell added 117 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries as Dexter toppled Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Quarterback Vinnie Greene passed for 49 yards and a touchdown as the Tigers improved to 5-3. Armstrong and Brad Chase paced the defense with 11 tackles apiece and Josh Bishop recorded 10 tackles.

For the 2-6 Huskies, Kevin Williams churned out a 83-yard touchdown run.

At Bangor Saturday night, sophomore tailback Ty Gardner rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries to help lead the Lynx of Lincoln past John Bapst.

For the Lynx, quarterback Dustin Hanscom completed four passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Defensive leaders were linebackers Tom Lasko (17 tackles) and Neil McGee (13 tackles), plus Tyler Libbey (eight tackles, two sacks). Jon Carney caught two passes, but they were for a combined 104 yards and two TDs.

John Bapst, which had its loss streak extended to 30 games, was paced by junior fullback Alex Rand (57 yards on 16 carries) and defensive lineman Ryan Carey (nine tackles).

For the Indians, who were missing five starters and had injured halfback Roger Cole (thumb) playing quarterback for injured quarterack Jeremy Stormann (elbow), Jake Cline carried the ball 16 times for 127 yards and senior linebacker Adam Sokoloski had 14 tackles and was in on a sack.
