Hunters can’t complain
Those who hunt moose by permit should be glad they have the opportunity to fill a freezer with several pounds of moose meat to feed their families and quit complaining that the moose was too small, the [wrong] sex, or didn’t have a rack.
Using a moose call, even if it is the only way to attract a moose, hardly qualifies as a fair hunt. It seems that hunting moose would be as challenging as hunting cows, which often merely stand there once in sight.
Obviously, we are not hunters. Instead, we are interested only in “shooting” moose with a camera while we thank God for a place like Baxter State Park where these majestic creatures are wild, safe and free.

Holyoke’s eating crow
E-hem, do you enjoy your crow cold, or microwaved?
John Holyoke: Your negative and cynical editorial on Ricky Craven back in January really got my goat. I fired a letter off to you and you actually printed it in the response column. I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I TOLD YOU SO! Thinking positive and believing is OK even for a sarcastic editorial writer.

Golf scores needed
Whoever is in charge of the Bangor Daily News sports department isn’t reporting the results of the PGA and LPGA golf tournaments. Someone should tell her that there is more to sports than hopscotch and playground skip rope jumping!
