BANGOR – Ben Reece scored the game’s only goal with 11 minutes left in the second half Thursday, propelling Thomas College of Waterville to a 1-0 men’s soccer victory over Husson College.

Ryan Conley made 15 saves on 17 shots for the 7-8 Terriers.

Cliff Urquhart made nine saves on 10 shots for the 1-12-1 Braves.

UM-Machias 6, MMA 0

At Castine, Brett Howarth scored four goals to power the Clippers past the Mariners.

Tim Spry and Neil Redmon scored a goal each for 7-7 UMaine-Machias, while Tatienda Chirusa notched three assists. Andrew Swift made three saves on 10 shots.

Dan Loebel and Chad Flagg combined to made three saves 16 shots for 2-12 Maine Maritime Academy.

UM-Farmington 1, St. Joseph’s 0

At Standish, David Sithole headed in a direct kick from Brian Mawhinney with eight minutes lift in the second half as the Beavers edged the Monks.

Mike Howsen made four saves on five shots for the winners. Nick Wallace rejected 13 of 15 for the Monks.

Southern Maine 2, Salem St. 0

At Salem, Mass., Kevin Colwell and Mike Hangee each scored unassisted second-half goals to lift the Huskies to the win.

Southern Maine improved to 3-15-1. Jeff Gray stopped five of 11 shots for the winners.

Jason Zahn made five saves on 12 shots for Salem State.

Field hockey

UM-Farmington 5, Thomas 1

At Farmington, Katie Bernier’s three goals led the Beavers by the Terriers.

Dorice Reitchel added two goals for the winners, and Fawn Albert had three saves.

Dawn Holland provided the Terriers’ only goal, and Dierdre Kelly rejected 25 shots.

Husson 5, St. Joseph’s 1

At Bangor, Nicole Palmer had three goals and Jen Commeau added two assists as the Braves rolled.

Sara McIntire and Yoko Egami added a goal each for 8-4 Husson. Shani Hollins and Amanda Swain combined to stop four shots.

Dania Clawson scored the 6-10 Monks’ goal. Laura Lombardi rejected 34 shots.
