Arrest discloses packets

Two small, empty pink packets found Saturday in the purse of a Bangor woman have been turned over to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to Bangor police.

Karen Thompson, 41, was arrested without incident on a warrant for theft from Hancock County. The packets were discovered by Bangor police Officer Shawn Green when Thompson was being checked in at the Penobscot County Jail.

The packets are often used to package illegal drugs for sale purposes, wrote Green in his report.

Thompson was released on bail early Sunday morning.

A Kenduskeag woman returned home Sunday afternoon after being away for several days to find that someone had broken into her house and rifled through her possessions.

The Center Street woman reported that nothing appeared to have been taken, although she was going to make a final assessment after cleaning up the mess that was left behind, reported Sgt. John Skroski of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.

Furniture had been moved or knocked over, while items on tables had been cleared off and the woman’s extensive record collection had been dumped onto the floor, Skroski said. The burglar entered through a back door.

Skroski said that something appeared to have been broken inside the door lock.
