Midshipman William Booton of Unity was named to the Maine Maritime Academy Master’s List for overall excellence during the 2001 training cruise at a special ceremony Sept. 12.

Booton, a member of the Class of 2004, is majoring in marine engineering technology. He is a graduate of Mount View High School in Thorndike.

Booton was named to the list by Capt. Laurence Wade, master of the training vessel State of Maine; Capt. Jeff Loustaunau, commandant of midshipmen and port captain; Chief Engineer Roger Lowell; and departmental training officers.

The trip covered 10,000 nautical miles with 180 students and 55 crew officers on the 500-foot, 16,000-ton ship.
