Ecstasy, drug pipes, gas mask found in search of motel room

The investigation continues and more charges are expected after Brewer police seized drugs, including Ecstasy, from a local motel efficiency apartment Friday night.

This was believed to be the first seizure of Ecstasy in Brewer.

Executing a search warrant on a two-bedroom efficiency at the Brewer Motor Inn that had been under surveillance for weeks, police confiscated marijuana, drug implements and Ecstasy, a drug that is found increasingly in Maine.

Issued a warrant Thursday, police searched the efficiency for about 21/2 hours Friday and were interrupted about 40 minutes into their effort when the tenants, Nathan Doucette, 19, and Greg Willoughby, 24, returned, according to a report by Officer Roger Hershey, who drafted the search warrant.

Both were detained and Doucette struggled with police, who tried to search him, said Cpl. Keith Emery on Monday. Police took several tablets of what was identified as Ecstasy from Doucette’s pocket and subsequently charged him with possession of a scheduled drug, Ecstasy, and with refusing to submit to an arrest or detention.

In Willoughby’s bedroom, police found marijuana, marijuana pipes and screens used in marijuana pipes that Willoughby claimed belonged to his roommate. Willoughby faces charges of possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Emery also said that Willoughby gave liquor to a girl who was under age 21 and will be charged with providing liquor to a minor.

Police confiscated other items, including pacifiers, inhalers, body paint and a decongestant, which authorities said has been associated with the use of Ecstasy. In addition, they found a gas mask connected to a marijuana pipe by a tube, allowing someone to inhale the marijuana through the mask.

Seven Brewer police officers were used during the search of the rooms. The police said that others are expected to be charged in the investigation.
