WATERVILLE – Chris Inzerillo scored on a through-pass from Tony Hanley with 19:36 left in the second half to lead Thomas past the University of Maine-Fort Kent 1-0 in a Maine Athletic Conference men’s soccer semifinal Wednesday.
Ryan Conley made 11 saves on 21 shots for the Terriers (8-8 overall, 5-2 in the MAC).
Zac Cote stopped two of nine shots he faced for the Bengals (7-7-1, 6-4).
UM-Farmington 4, UMM 0
At Farmington, Tim Ghelli and Dave Sithole recorded a goal and an assist apiece to propel UMaine-Farmington by UM-Machias in a MAC semifinal.
Justin Groshon and Brian Mawhinney added goals for the 13-3 Beavers. Mike Hauser and Ryan Hersey combined for three saves.
For the 8-8 Clippers, Courtenay Campbell logged 13 saves.
Maine Maritime 4, Becker 2
At Leicester, Mass., Seth Warner booted a pair of goals to pace Maine Maritime Academy of Castine to a North Atlantic Conference tournament quarterfinal victory over Becker College.
Derek Wilding chipped in with a goal and an assist, Eric Dankewicz fired in a goal, and Wels Baker dished out an assist for 3-12 Maine Maritime. Goalie Daniel Lobel turned back four shots.
Steve Novia garnered a goal and an assist, Nick Edmands scored a goal, and Paul Collins registered an assist for 2-15 Becker. Goalkeeper Josh Moore was credited with six saves.
Field hockey
Southern Maine 2, Babson 1 (OT)
At Gorham, Jessie Superchi made a diving blocker save on the decisive penalty stroke to give 13-8 Southern Maine the win in an ECAC Div. III quarterfinal game.
Superchi made two saves on six shots. Sarah Dolley scored the tying goal on a pass from Becky Manson, and Sarah McKay scored the only penalty stroke.
Sarah Lange scored with an assist from Jamie Bowman for 12-9 Babson, while Colleen Kelly stopped eight of 10 shots.
