BANGOR – Timothy C. Woodcock of Bangor, president of the board of directors at Community Health and Counseling Services, has been named the Home Care Alliance of Maine 2001 Board Member of the Year.
Woodcock was honored during the alliance’s annual meeting held at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport
The Board Member of the Year award is presented annually to an individual who is a board member of a home care agency in recognition of committed and dedicated service. The recipient of this award must demonstrate commitment through serving on the board and participating in community activities on behalf of home care.
Woodcock, a lawyer with the Bangor-based firm of Weatherbee, Woodcock, Burlock and Woodcock, has been a member of the CHCS board of directors since 1994 and president of the board since 1999.
In presenting the award, Joseph H. Pickering Jr., CHCS executive director, said, “Tim has been a tireless force, taking the lead on issues impacting home care in Maine. He is an invaluable asset to our organization.” Pickering also recognized Woodcock for always encouraging collaboration between community agencies and leaders.
Woodcock, 49, is a former member of U.S. Sen. William S. Cohen’s staff, first working for Cohen during his 1978 Senate campaign. He later served as a senior aide in Cohen’s Washington, D.C., office and as staff director of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and special counsel to the Senate Iran-Contra Committee.
Woodcock also is a former federal prosecutor and served as mayor of the city of Bangor, as well as being a former member of the Bangor City Council. He is a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2nd Congressional District.
Others honored by HCAM during its annual meeting were Home Care Advocates of the Year, Maine Rep. Patrick Colwell and House Clerk Emeritus Joseph Mayo; and Distinguished Service Award, Francine Wheelock of HealthReach HomeCare and Hospice, and Arthur Wing of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
