MACHIAS – Washington County residents seeking a game warden no longer should call the Washington County Regional Communications Center, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Lt. Tim Liscomb of the warden service said the RCC recently assumed responsibility for the county’s Enhanced-911 communication service and, as a result, is no longer dispatching for the warden service.

Liscomb said the Washington County wardens can be contacted through the Bangor office of the Maine Warden Service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by dialing 941-4440 or by calling the Orono barracks of the Maine State Police at 1-800-432-7381.

“We want to make sure the public knows how to reach us,” Liscomb said. ” If people are calling to report a hunting or fishing violation and want to remain anonymous, they can call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-253-7887.
