LEWISTON – Erica Stupinski’s first-half goal proved to be the game-winner as the Mount Ararat of Topsham girls soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Edward Little of Auburn in Saturday’s Class A state soccer championship game at Don Roux Field.
The Cheverus of Portland boys held off Mount Ararat 2-1 for the Class A boys title.
Stupinski scored the Eagles’ goal on a blast past EL goalie Krista Wotherspoon with 18:23 left in the first half. Mount Ararat goalie Ashley Nesbit withstood the charge from the Red Eddies in the final minutes for the win.
Mount Ararat, the only Eastern Maine school to win a state soccer title Saturday, finishes at 18-1. Edward Little closes the season at 15-2.
In the boys game, Matt Shires scored two goals in the first half for the 17-0-1 Stags. Goalie Shawn Hawthorne earned the win.
Mount Ararat’s Adam Gadbois made it close when he scored with 3:31 left in the game. The Eagles finish at 17-1-1.

At Winslow, Chris Langlais passed for three touchdowns to lead the Black Raiders in an LTC Class B semifinal at Poulin Field.
Winslow, now 10-0, will face Belfast Nov. 10 for the conference title and a berth in the state Class B championship game. It will be the third straight year the Black Raiders and the Lions have met in the LTC championship game.
Langlais racked up 183 yards on 7-for-16 passing. Ricky Vigue added an 11-yard touchdown run.
