Health needs study conducted in County

CARIBOU – County Health Link, a consortium of health and social service agencies serving Aroostook County, was awarded a federal grant to conduct a countywide population health needs study. This scientific study will collect data from a number of sources to identify the health problems and service gaps of the residents of Aroostook County.

A critical part of the study will include interviews with 550 randomly selected households across The County to ask about people’s health, their use of medical care and their perceptions of health services needed in The County. The interviewing will begin during the first week of November and will be conducted over the phone by an independent research firm. All information collected will be voluntary and confidential.

The phone interviews will last about 20 minutes. Public Health Resource Group of Portland is conducting the study. Led by Dr. Ronald Deprez, PHRG has conducted similar health studies in other parts of Maine, throughout the United States and abroad.

For information, contact Jamie Owens at the Aroostook Mental Health Center at 498-6431.
