In response to Evelyn Stockley’s letter (BDN, Oct. 17), the staff and board of directors of the Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center offer our heartfelt thanks for the glowing report of her and her husband’s recent stays at the center.
I would like to clarify one fact of which some people may be unaware: the Bangor City Nursing Facility no longer exists as a city- run entity. It is a privatized non-profit facility with its own board of directors. After six months of negotiations between a group of interested citizens and city staff and with the approval of the Bangor City Council, the City Nursing Facility on Jan. 1, became the Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (BNRC).
Our intention is to provide a solid and stable foundation for the future of the center and to continue the important work that has gone on since 1834. We encourage anyone to visit us and take a good look at what is happening at 103 Texas Ave. and let everyone in Bangor and beyond know what a special place the Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is.
Jim Tyler
President and
Chairman of the board

Rehabilitation Center
