Former Ellsworth High star Louie Luchini clocked 31 minutes, 27 seconds over 10,000 meters and finished 10th overall to help second-ranked Stanford win the NCAA West Regional cross country championship at the Randolph North Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday.
The Cardinal tallied 37 points to outpace Portland (91) and advanced to the NCAA championship meet, set for Nov. 19 in Greenville, S.C.
Luchini was the fourth runner for the Cardinal. Stanford teammate Donald Sage (30:43) won the meet.
