DIXFIELD – A two-car accident on Canton Point Road took the life of a 74-year-old Dixfield woman.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was killed Sunday afternoon when her car collided with a sport utility vehicle.

Police said the woman was attempting to pass the SUV, which was slowing to turn left into a driveway, and the collision took place as the SUV made the turn.

The woman was dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, identified only as a 16-year-old male from Dixfield, was not injured.

Police said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor.
