East soccer stars gain split with West

NORTHPORT – The East came away with a split at the MBNA Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl Sunday. The East girls defeated the West 6-4 at Point Lookout Field while the West boys handled the East 8-3.

In the girls game, Laura Bishop of Brunswick led the way with two goals as the East won bragging rights. Other goal scorers included Sarah Clapp from George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, Winslow’s Emily Moores, Alicia Tefft of Brunswick and Hannah Levesque from Mount Ararat in Topsham.

For the West, Elizabeth Brunton of Sumner in East Sullivan scored twice while Kelsey Wilcox of North Yarmouth Academy and Tracey Theriault of Sanford each had one goal.

Goalies were Jessie Craft of Greenville and Bethany Roderique of Winslow. Each played a half for each team, since the West was down a few players.

In the boys game, Eoin Lynch of Yarmouth and Jeff Davis of Falmouth each scored two goals to lead the West. Justin Lawrence of Hall-Dale of Hallowell, Travis Magnusson of Georges Valley in Thomaston, Cheverus of Portland’s Ben Tourangeau, and Greenville’s Jonathan Ethier each had one goal. Derel Gilbert of Dirigo of Dixfield and Greg Andreason of Mount Ararat of Topsham played in goal.

Tyler Muzzy of Greenville, Nick Casavant of Presque Isle, and Steve Gerow of Morse scored for the East. Nick Thibodeau of Fort Kent, Ryan Babin of Fort Fairfield, and Chad Smith of Ellsworth shared goalie duties.
