AUGUSTA – Maine’s unemployment rate in October was 4.3 percent, unchanged from September’s figure, the King administration said.
October’s rate, adjusted to reflect seasonal changes in the labor market, was also an increase from 3.1 percent during the same month a year ago. But the state rate was 1.1 percentage point lower than the comparable national rate of 5.4 for October.
The biggest job losses between September and October in Maine were in manufacturing, services and government, Labor Commissioner Valerie Landry said. Altogether, 1,700 jobs were lost.
