Tidbits

Charmed, I’m sure

Unless you have six different wineglasses, there’s bound to be some confusion over whose glass is whose when you entertain. Chiasso has the solution: chrome-plated wine charms that encircle the stem of each glass, each with a witty description that leaves no room for error, including tasteful, charming, generous, good-looking, quick-witted and snappy dresser. They cost $36 for a set of six and are available by calling (800) 654-3570 or online at www.chiasso.com.

Turkey talk

If the thought of carving the bird conjures up visions of flying drumsticks and a mangled turkey, don’t fret. Give the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line a call at (800) BUTTERBALL or visit www.butterball.com for step-by-step carving directions. The 45 dietitians and home economists who staff the talk line are prepared to answer any turkey-related questions and the Web site walks you through the whole cooking process whether you’re roasting or grilling, so you can’t go wrong.

Local flavor

The Abri Pregnancy Consultation in Rockland, a nonprofit Christian center that provides support, education and counseling related to pregnancy and parenthood, has released “Cooking for Life.” Proceeds from the cookbook, which includes 141 pages of recipes from volunteers, area churches and staff at the center, will benefit Abri’s ministry. The cookbook costs $10 and is available at the Personal Book Shop and Dave’s Restaurant in Thomaston; at the Reading Corner and First Baptist Book Store in Rockland; at Moody’s Gift Shop in Waldoboro; and by phone at (800) 835-1611.
