BANGOR – Two workshops on parenting have been scheduled at the Cooperative Extension Office, 307 Maine Ave.

“How to Teach Kids to Handle Anger without Violence” will be presented 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.

The speaker will be Marie Mitchell of the Penobscot Nation Health Center.

Issues to be addressed include whether anger is normal, how it is expressed, and what constitutes safe or fair anger. Parents will learn the ABCD steps to teach their children to handle anger without violence.

The workshop fee is $5.

“What Is Your Parenting Style?” will be presented 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, also at the Cooperative Extension Office.

The speaker will be Louise O. Kirkland from Cooperative Extension. The workshop will present three parenting styles – the dictator, the doormat and the active parent. Parents will learn how to reduce power struggles through the use of choices and family enrichment activities.

The workshop fee is $5.

To reserve a seat for either workshop, call 942-7396.
