Bangor

Frank Susi of Bangor was honored recently for 25 years of service with Cianbro Corp. in Pittsfield. A senior project manager with the company, he was presented a gold watch by President Pete Vigue.

Now managing projects in the company’s northern New England region, Susi started his career with Cianbro working summers as a field engineer, then a foreman. He later became a superintendent before taking his present position.

Bangor native Robert J. Barrett III, a 1962 graduate of John Bapst High School, has been named to the board of directors of Nyer Medical Group Inc.

A graduate of Georgetown College, Columbia Law School and Harvard Business School, Barrett is president of Maine Venture Capital LLC and has more than 30 years’ experience in investment banking.

He is a trustee of the Barrett Fund in memory of Beatrix J. Farrand at the University of Maine, and a director of the Sen. George Mitchell Institute.

The St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring the annual “Lights of Remembrance” program.

A gift of $10 or more will provide a light on the dove or star on the hospital tower, or on a holiday tree on the grounds of the hospital on Broadway. Those who contribute $25 or more will have a light, and also receive a limited edition Fernwood winter scene replica of St. Joseph Hospital. A gift of $100 will provide a light annually, and the donor also will receive the winter scene replica.

All gifts will be acknowledged in a special album on display in the lobby, and the name of each loved one honored will be written on an ornament on the tree in the lobby.

The lighting of St. Joseph’s holiday display will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7, at the Broadway entrance. This year, the exhibit will include a special red, white and blue tree. Other festivities during the evening will include caroling by the St. John’s Catholic Church Youth Choir, a visit from Santa and refreshments.

Eastern Maine Charities will sponsor a “Lights of Hope” program during the holiday season.

Those contributing to the program will have one of the lights on the tree on the Eastern Maine Medical Center campus lit in honor, or in memory, of someone.

Proceeds from the program will be used to support patient services at CancerCare of Maine. CCoM serves people with cancer or blood disorders, families and friends.

Bangor Federal Credit Union and Brewer Federal Credit Union are accepting contributions of money for the Christmas in New York fund raiser to purchase presents for the children of firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel who lost their lives on Sept. 11. The deadline for donations is Dec. 7.

Presents may be donated as well. For pickup, call Brian Goggins, retired Brewer firefighter, at 884-6066. Representatives of Maine’s firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel will deliver the presents to New York the week of Dec. 10.

Glenburn

Rene Davis of Glenburn, co-owner of Advertising Advisors and Davis Communications, has been named manager for accounts and special projects at WVII Channel 7.

Davis said that she loves to create new promotions and projects, and she was excited about becoming part of the Channel 7 promotion team and the sales department.

Hampden

Bion A. Foster of Hampden was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Finance Authority of Maine at its annual meeting in Portland. A successful businessman for many years, Foster has undertaken several economic projects to stimulate growth in local communities.

Hudson

Freeman Brawn of Hudson was honored recently for 25 years of service with Cianbro Corp. in Pittsfield. A superintendent with the company, he was presented a gold watch by President Pete Vigue.

Brawn began as a pipefitter with Cianbro, then worked as a foreman, general foreman and now a superintendent.

Penobscot County

Forty-eight new police officers graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro as part of the first 18-week training program in basic law enforcement held at the new academy.

They include: Paul R. Gauvin, Brewer Police; Benson G. Eyles, Hampden Police; Brent J. Fournier, Old Town Police; Seth C. Burnes, Old Town Police; Todd M. Jamison, Veazie Police; Douglas H. Smith, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department; and Nelson A. Feero Jr., University of Maine Police.
