Shooting incident ends in charges Hail of bullets fired at Addison trailer

ADDISON – A Washington County man who fired several rounds inside his girlfriend’s home after finding her with another man early Sunday morning has been jailed, police said.

According to police reports, Jeremy Albee, 24, arrived at the Addison trailer owned by his 21-year-old girlfriend at about dawn. He found the woman with another local man, Trooper Jeff Clark of the Maine State Police said Sunday.

The two men argued and, police said, Albee became furious. He then loaded a hunting rifle and began firing.

Police were still counting rounds Sunday afternoon, but said that Albee had fired at least 10 bullets inside the trailer.

“He just started shooting through the walls,” Clark said.

No one was injured in the fray, but the noise woke Albee’s girlfriend’s mother, who lived next door. She called police for help just before 6 a.m.

Police are uncertain as to whether Albee had been living with his girlfriend or with his family in Jonesport. Albee had been drinking Sunday morning, but was not intoxicated when the incident occurred, police said.

After firing inside the trailer, Albee went outside and started shooting bullets into the other man’s car, police said.

When police arrived at about 6:15 a.m, Albee ran into a nearby wooded area with his gun. His girlfriend and the second man jumped into the damaged car and drove away, police said.

Albee threatened to shoot himself during a standoff with police that lasted about 20 minutes, Clark said.

“We just talked to him. When a deputy arrived who knew him we were able to convince him to put down the rifle,” Clark said.

Albee was arrested on charges of criminal threatening and reckless conduct with a firearm, and taken into custody at Washington County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning, police said.
