PEMBROKE – A Pembroke woman and her 8-year-old son were injured Monday night when their car struck a tractor-trailer truck on Route 1.

Deputy Scott Inman of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department said Michelle Brown, 36, and her son, Michael, were taken to Down East Community Hospital with orthopedic injuries after the 6 p.m. accident.

Inman said Brown’s 2000 Jeep struck a lowbed tractor-trailer driven by Branden Brown, 26, of Pembroke. Inman said that Brown was backing the vehicle into the driveway of his home on Route 1 when the accident occurred.

Brown was not injured.
