BIDDEFORD – Police are investigating the death of a 15-month-old boy whose parents found him dead next to his crib.

Aiden Martin-Keach was found by his parents, Stephen Keach and Charlene Martin, in their Biddeford home about 6 a.m. Monday wedged between his crib and a bedroom wall, according to Maine State Police.

State police spokesman Stephen McCausland said investigators are treating the death as an accident.

“The child’s crib had apparently been placed adjacent to a wall that contained a window,” McCausland said. “The boy apparently climbed out, slipped and wedged himself between the windowsill and the crib and cut off his air supply.”

An autopsy has been performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office; the official cause of death is pending.

McCausland said his department investigates any death of a child under age 3.
