Local organizations make donations to Santa’s Helper Fund

While the Salvation Army staff is busy greeting applicants, processing requests and doing the numerous other duties that keep them occupied this time of the year, the Santa’s Helper Fund is quietly growing. This will ensure that funds will be available to pay for all of the Christmas boxes necessary to serve the many families who have asked for help.

As they gather to celebrate the holiday season, some families, friends, clubs, or work mates are pooling contributions for the benefit of the Santa’s Helper Fund. Today we have received a generous donation of $155 from the Road Runners Chapter of Good Sam Campers of America, Bangor, and $250 from the Bangor High School Student Council.

Other donations came from George and Selda Maxsimic, Orrington, $30; Warren and Catherine Hasson, Lee, $25; Vaughn and Lorna Martin, in memory of sons, Daniel & Peter Martin, Millinocket, $25; Mr. and Mrs. Clifton V. Bemis, Jr., Old Town, $50; Richard J. Young, Milford, $10; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fitts, Brewer, $50; and Juanita Moores, Springfield, $20.

Also contributing anonymously: Stonington, $10; Bangor, $50; Bangor, $25; and Old Town, $50.

Donations received so far total $4,857, almost 10 percent of this year’s goal.

Please consider contributing to the Santa’s Helper Fund. The needs of so many individuals and families in our area are great, particularly at this time of year.

Donations may be sent to Santa’s Helper Fund, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor 04402-1329. Your names and donation amounts will be published in the Santa’s Helper column in the Bangor Daily News. Donors who wish to remain anonymous will be listed as such, followed by their donation amounts. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
