It might have been an economically tough Thanksgiving for a lot of people, but no one in the Greater Bangor area should have gone hungry.

Traditional Thanksgiving dinners were offered without cost Thursday at Captain Nick’s, the Greater Bangor Area Shelter, and Pizza Hut.

It was the fifth year the Captain Nick’s has offered free dinner and by 11 a.m. tables were filling up. Volunteers had been in the kitchen since the wee hours of the morning.

Bangor is famed far and wide for the excellence of its hotels, and the “man of the road” is always glad when he gets to this town, especially for Sundays and holidays. The dinners served in these houses are always good, but on such occasions as Thanksgiving, the proprietors, chefs and all concerned make great efforts to please and satisfy their guests.

OLDTOWN – The ninth annual Thanksgiving concert at the hall of the XX Club was, as anticipated, a great success. All Oldtown turned out and many came from Bangor, Brewer and Orono. The evening opened with a pleasing concert by Pullen’s orchestra.
