ALFRED – A former municipal official in Biddeford and Wells has been ordered to serve 14 months in jail for molesting a 10-year-old girl.

Donald Simard, 49, of Saco pleaded guilty in August to three counts of unlawful sexual contact and was sentenced Thursday in York County Superior Court.

Simard faces six years of probation after his release. He will be prohibited from contacting the victim or other children and must register as a sex offender.

Simard served as code enforcement officer in Biddeford. He resigned last year to become director of planning and development in Wells but stepped down from that post after four weeks.
