Santa’s Helper Fund looking for donations

As we look out the windows of our warm homes and marvel at the pretty holiday lights, it’s easy to forget that Christmas may be bleak for many children and families in this region.

The Santa’s Helper Fund stands now at $7,292. That means more than $42,000 needs to be raised by Dec. 31 to attain our goal of $50,000, an amount desperately needed to take care of the less fortunate in our midst.

Consider joining the following people who recently contributed to the Santa’s Helper Fund. Be assured that every dollar received goes directly to The Salvation Army, which will provide food, shelter, clothing and Christmas presents to those who need them most.

AMVETS Post 9, Old Town, $25; Elena Leighton, Bangor, in memory of Hazel and Marie Stanley of Winterport, $50; Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Rush Sr., in memory of their son Lee Rush, $30; Tim and Gloria Sampson and Dee Carlson, Castine, $100; and Viola Linscott, Springfield, $25.

Bernice Knight, Monson, $10; Natalie D. Grindle, Bangor, $20; Lynette Pete, Alton $25; Frank H. Comeau, Old Town, $25; Charlene Brownlee, Patten, $50; and Mildred Baillargeon, Old Town, $25.
