The new pastor of Lakeview Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Rockport comes from a church in Northern Ireland. The Rev. Stephen J. Tracey was installed as pastor this fall. He had been pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Omagh, Northern Ireland, and also served as editor of that denomination’s church magazine. Tracey was born in Northern Ireland and is a graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the Theological College of the Free Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. In Maine, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church has congregations in Bangor, Portland, Skowhegan, Topsham and Rockport.
Essex Street Baptist Church in Bangor has recognized Reginald Booker as deacon emeritus, honoring his service as a deacon for 30 years and as a member of the congregation for more than 50 years. “Reggie has faithfully supported our church for many years, often in behind-the-scenes roles,” said the Rev. Randall Wilbur, the church’s pastor. “We wanted to recognize his service by naming him ‘deacon for a lifetime.'” Deacons in most Baptist churches are lay people who are ordained by their congregations for Christian service.
An installation service is planned at 1 p.m. Sunday for the Rev. H. Kenneth Dutille Jr., who has been called as minister of the Swans Island Baptist Church, an affiliate of the Maine Sea Coast Missionary Society. Dutille is former pastor of the First Freewill Baptist Church, Brunswick, and owned the Good News Bookstore of the Topsham Fair Mall. He is a former Richmond selectman. A graduate of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo., he received a master’s degree in church growth and administration from the California Graduate School of Theology.
